Newborns Metabolomics Service
The neonate's transition from fetal dependence on maternal metabolism to an independent individual completing his or her own metabolism is achieved through a series of metabolic transitions. The tremendous growth during the neonatal period is associated with specific alterations in metabolism, and its metabolic levels and metabolic patterns differ from those of children and adults at other stages of growth. It is due to this specificity in the early stages of life that understanding the metabolic characteristics of perinatal fetuses and neonates and their metabolic changes in disease states has new insights into the assessment of growth and development, disease states, and prognostic regression of neonates, and will provide a new basis for the selection of new treatment options and drug research.
Metabolomics is the process of detecting changes in the metabolic profile of the organism in disease states to find accurate and targeted metabolites that may translate into biomarkers of disease for these specific metabolites. Metabolites themselves are biologically active and exogenous key metabolites can reprogram metabolic pathways to adapt or inhibit metabolic changes in the body.
Creative Proteomics has established a platform for neonatal metabolomics analysis to help elucidate mechanisms of organismal response and reconstitution, providing a theoretical basis for disease prevention and treatment, and potential drug discovery.
