Flavones are secondary metabolized polyphenolic compounds widely found in plants, mainly C6-C3-C6 compounds formed by bridging two benzene rings (A and B rings) with three carbon atoms. There are many types and numbers of flavones that have emerged. Generally, most flavones are combined with glycosides, giving them a more complex molecular structure. The chemical structure of flavones determines to some extent their diverse biological activities, and the biological activities vary with different structures. These compounds have been found to have antioxidant, antitumor, anticancer, antibacterial, immunomodulatory, and suppression of body dysfunction effects, as well as the advantages of low toxicity and high activity.
