What is Quercetin?
Quercetin is a widely distributed flavonol compound with a variety of biological activities in the plant kingdom. Quercetin is widely found in the stem bark, flowers, leaves, buds, seeds and fruits of many plants, mostly in the form of glycosides, such as rutin, quercetin, hyperoside. Quercetin can be obtained by acid hydrolysis. Among them, quercetin content is higher in the stem and leaves of buckwheat, sea buckthorn, hawthorn and onion. Quercetin fights free radicals, complexes or traps free radicals to prevent lipid peroxidation in the body. Quercetin can directly inhibit tumors and effectively play a role in cancer prevention and anticancer. Quercetin also has strong biological activity in antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic and prevention of diabetes complications. In addition, quercetin has the functions of lowering blood pressure, enhancing capillary resistance, reducing capillary fragility, lowering blood lipids, dilating coronary arteries and increasing coronary blood flow. Quercetin is non-toxic, so it has great significance for the treatment and prevention of cancer, aging and cardiovascular diseases, which has great development value.
