What is Triglyceride?

Triglyceride (TAG) is an ester derived from glycerol and three fatty acid molecules. It is not only the main component of cell membranes, but also an important respiratory substrate. Bacteria have the ability to synthesize odd-numbered and branched-chain fatty acids. Most naturally occurring fats contain different triglycerides. During times when the human body requires fatty acids for energy, triglycerides are broken down by sensitive lipase to release free fatty acids which can then be utilized for energy. Furthermore, high levels of TAGs in the human body have been associated with several diseases such as atherosclerosis, heart disease, stroke, and metabolic syndrome. In addition, elevated levels of human TAGs have been shown to be related to a variety of diseases, including atherosclerosis, heart disease, stroke, and metabolic syndrome.

In the food industry, fat analysis is closely related to the judgment of food fraud, the implementation of quality supervision, and the detection of food safety. Triglycerides are important substances in fat analysis. Based on HPLC technology, the composition of triglycerides and isomers in food can be analyzed. Enzymatic analysis and chiral-phase chromatography can locate fatty acids on the TAG molecule.

Triglyceride Analysis Service

According to different analysis needs, Creative Proteomics provides customize exclusive triglyceride services solutions for you according to your samples.

Service Workflow

HPLC is used to measure the content of various components in a sample. The liquid medium flows through the pipeline of the HPLC. After adding a sample to the instrument, the components of the sample are separated in the chromatographic column, and then the detector measures the content of each component.

LC methods, including capillary integral chromatography and ultra-high performance liquid chromatography, combined with mass spectrometry, can be ionized by electrospray ionization (ESI), atmospheric pressure chemical ionization (APCI) or atmospheric pressure photoionization (APPI).
