Warfarin Analysis Service
Online InquiryOverview
Warfarin is a coumarin-based oral anticoagulant with a chemical structure similar to that of vitamin K, which competes against the effects of vitamin K. By inhibiting carboxylase synthesis, warfarin interferes with the conversion of vitamin K into active coagulation factors II, VII, IX and X in hepatocytes, thus exerting an anticoagulant effect. Warfarin is used clinically for the prevention and treatment of thrombotic disorders, including atrial fibrillation, post-operative heart valve replacement, pulmonary embolism, and deep vein thrombosis. In addition, warfarin can be made into powder, microcapsules, or its sodium salt dissolved in water to poison rats and other rodents. Creative Proteomics provides qualitative and quantitative warfarin analysis services to facilitate a wide range of basic research that will lead to safer and more effective clinical applications of warfarin.
