Online InquiryThe three carotenoids, antheraxanthin and zeaxanthin and violaxanthin, can undergo reversible interactions in the phytoalexin cycle. Antheraxanthin is the product of the first epoxidation reaction catalyzed by zeaxanthin epoxidase, and its metabolism plays an important role in phytohormone biosynthesis. The intermediate product isopentenyl pyrophosphate is converted to gibberellins, cytokinins and abscisic acid under different conditions, and carotenoids are also formed.
In the human body, antheraxanthin, like many carotenoids, protects against cell and organ damage caused by free radicals in the body and has anticancer and cardiovascular disease prevention effects.

High performance liquid chromatography allows the determination of various components in extract samples, including various carotenoids, such as lutein and zeaxanthin. This method is highly sensitive, e.g. fluorescence detector sensitivity up to 10-11 g, detection limit up to 109, injection volume in the order of μL, and quantitative detection is not affected by impurities in the extracts.
The Q Exactive mass spectrometer combines the parent ion selectivity of a high-performance quadrupole with the high-resolution accurate mass number (HR/AM) Orbitrap detection technology to provide excellent performance and outstanding versatility for qualitative and quantitative compound detection with high sensitivity and throughput compared to HPLC.
