About Antheraxanthin

Antheraxanthin is the product of the first epoxidation reaction catalyzed by zeaxanthin epoxidase. Its metabolism plays an important role in the process of plant hormone biosynthesis. The intermediate product isopentenyl pyrophosphate will be converted into gibberellin, cytokinin and abscisic acid under different conditions, and also form carotenoids.

Antheraxanthin is a bright yellow auxiliary pigment, an oil-soluble alcohol in the carotenoid lutein subgroup, mainly present in many organisms that perform photosynthesis.

Anthocyanins are both components and products of photosynthetic green algae, red algae, euglena and plant cell photoprotective mechanisms.

Its molecular formula is C40H56O3, and its CAS number is 640-03-9 (all-trans) and 68831-78-7 (9Z).
