Vincristine is an alkaloid extracted from the periwinkle plant of the family Oleaceae. Vincristine has the effect of blocking cell division (mitosis), similar to colchicine, but its effect is stronger than colchicine.
Vincristine can fight against cancer, and its efficacy is about 10 times higher than that of vincristine. It is used clinically as one of the anti-cancer drugs and is particularly effective against tumors of hematopoietic organs.
The chemical formula is C46H56N4O10 and the CAS number is 57-22-7.
