Overview

Glycerophospholipids are glycerol-based phospholipids containing at least one O-1-acyl, O-1-alkyl, or O-1-alkenyl residue attached to the glycerol moiety. The presence of an additional head group (such as choline, serine and glycerol) attached to the phosphate diversifies glycerophospholipids (Figure 1), glycerophospholipids present a significant challenge in high level of accuracy in lipid quantitation. Both biosynthesis (CDP-DAG pathway and Kennedy pathway) and degradation (different phospholipases) of glycerophospholipids are controlled by different signalling pathways. therefore, the metabolism of glycerophospholipids is pretty complicated and it is not fully understood how and when their substitutions and modifications occur. But it is quite documented that aberrant glycerophospholipids metabolisms are closely associated with various human pathologies like Laurence-Moon syndrome and cancer. Understanding the glycerophospholipid metabolisms contribute to unravelling the underlying mechanism behind human diseases. In Creative Proteomics, we provide reliable, rapid and cost-effective glycerophospholipid metabolism related service to speed up your research aims ranging from diseases diagnosis to gaining new insights in disease mechanism or treatment.
